Why Study In Denmark?

Want to study in a European country with a high quality of life? Maybe somewhere green and clean? Snowy and fairytale-like? How about riding a bike instead of catching the tube or the bus on your way to university? If all of this sounds good, why not consider studying in Denmark?

Situated at the gateway between northern and western Europe, Denmark may be a relatively small country, but it´s a heavyweight study destination. Five of the eight universities in Denmark make the top 400 of the QS World University Rankings 2014/15, with the University of Copenhagen leading the way in 45th place.

Despite its small population – only 5.5 million – Denmark ranks as one of the world´s most innovative countries thanks to a strong emphasis on research and high-quality education.

The country´s higher education institutions work closely with business to offer an up-to-date learning environment where you can learn from industry experts and undertake internships in globally recognised organisations.

Tuition is free for students from other EU states but the cost of living is comparatively high and accommodation in demand.

Higher education in Denmark is free for students from the EU/EEA and for students participating in an exchange programme. For other students, annual tuition fees range from £490 to £13,000.

Accommodation and living costs in Denmark are higher as compared to London.

Finding a place to live often takes time. Therefore, students are advised to contact their host institution for information about housing as soon as they have been accepted into a study programme. Some international students prefer to let or sub-let a room from a Danish student or landlord. Others rent a flat or a house, which they share with friends.

Denmark is an expensive country but it is possible to live economically.

Denmark is an extremely safe country with low crime rates and a high quality public healthcare system.
